Stuart
Harrison
is one of the leading brand and marketing strategists within the
hospitality and leisure industry in the UK. He offers an unparalleled track
record in building brand awareness, brand equity and commercial growth
within the sector.
In his career he has
been responsible, or influenced, the sales and marketing development of
major brands within the UK, including Holiday Inn, Marriott Hotels –
which won his company, Scotts Hotels, 'UK Hotel Brand of the Year' in 1993 Arcadian
International, which owned Malmaison, and Howard Johnson, Days Inn and Express by
Holiday Inn.
Before becoming Sales
and Marketing Director of Select Country Hotels in 1986 Stuart was a Deputy
Director within the English Tourist Boards regional
structure. Prior to entering tourism in a PR capacity he was a journalist with the Bristol
Evening Post, Daily Sketch and the BBC.
He is a Founding
Fellow of The Tourism Society, a Fellow of The Chartered Institute of
Marketing and a Visiting Fellow of Oxford Brookes University Business
School where he has lectured the Masters course on International Hotel
Marketing.
He is Principal of
The Profitable Hotel Company, which undertakes Strategic Projects, Audits
and Sales and Marketing Training within the hospitality and leisure
industry.
His
Company has undertaken projects for major hospitality, leisure and related
businesses in the UK. He is a hotel industry representative on Visit
Britain’s Americas Interest Group.
